C18 origin, but much of the house of early C20 date in C18 style; late C18
wings. Main part of the house neo-Georgian; 3 storeys, 5 bays, red brick
with moulded brick bands between ground and 1st and 1st and 2nd storeys,
with a modillion cornice and parapet. Central wood columned porch of late
C18 character. Projecting flanking wings 2 storeys, stock brick with red
brick dressings, canted bayed fronts with one sash window on each face. Oval
windows in parapet with stone coping. Single storey C18 red brick wing to
south; 5 bays, stone coping to the parapet. Entrance front modern. Interior
has some late C18 features in ground floor rooms. (Illustrated in C T Perfect's
'Ye olde Village of Hornchurch').
