December 1994 for the borough of Brentwood, Essex.


Great Warley
Brick House
TQ 58 NE 13/5 7.1.55.
Double-pile house, front range early C18, 2 storeys, red brick with some black
headers. Three windows wide, all sashes, the centre sash in a cased frame.
Early C19 sashes. Raised brick band course between storeys. Bold painted
wooden modillion cornice, mansard roof with old tiles. End gables with stacks.
Three old pedimented dormers the centre one with a sash window the others
casements. Central door with fluted boric pilasters, frieze, dentilled cornice
and pediment. Stone steps to front door with iron railings. Timber-framed
rear range possibly C17. Two storeys, rear elevation rendered, side gabled
walls refronted in brick to match front range, gabled rear projection housing
entrance and stair, stack to south of rear entrance. C18 railings to front
