1629-1630, built for Sir Edmund Wright. Important example of "artisan mannerism.
H-shaped in red brick with stone and stucco dressings. 5 bays on main fronts,4 on sides. 2 storeys and attics having tall shaped gables, crowned by pediments,
above all bays. Large mullioned and transomed casement windows. Main east
front has extra windows flanking centrepiece to light staircase. Inside many
panelled rooms with original fireplaces and a handsome plaster ceiling. Fine
classical screen in hall, probably of circa 1664; and a staircase of early
C18 date with wall paintings.
