Building dated 1789 on stone plaque above door but looks somewhat older. 2
storeys and attic, 5 windows. Fairly high pitched tiled roof with 3 gabled
dormers. Red brick walls with brick dentil cornice. Windows all modernised,
some C19 casements, some modern iron casements, those on ground floor under
gauged brick segmental arches. Modern central gabled porch. 2 rear wings with
hipped gabled ends, rebuilt in places, forming a U-shape. Inside visible chamfered
ceiling beams, and brick fireplaces of C18 appearance. Graded partly for historic
interest as having been built as the parish workhouse. Modern west extension
in similar materials.
