The Chestnuts
TQ 08 SE 21A/169 2.7.71.
Early C18 house in grounds. Brick cemented. 2 storeys, 5 double hung sashes
in surrounds with sills. Roman Doric porch with 1/2 columns, astragal frieze,
modillion cornice and pediment, architrave to door. Old tile roof; 3 dormers
with moulded cornices and segmental pediments. Brown brick additions to south.
At one time the home of William Wilberforce. At time of listing the house
stands roofless and only one room deep, awaiting restoration.
