The Cottage Hotel
(Formerly listed as The Cottage)
TQ 0682 23/390 8.5.50.
2-storey, 4-window building of C16 origin. Tiled roof has 4 gables of early
Cl7 appearance, 1 over projecting staircase bay. Compound central brick chimney
stack and another at left with diagonal shafts. These and walls now roughcast.
Cl9 leaded casements. Modern rear extensions. Inside very wide Tudor fireplace,
now plastered, and a smaller one upstairs. Stout beam wuth ogee chamfer stop
in main room. cl? screen of columns in hall.

The Red Lion Public House, the Conifir Cafe and A W Smith & Sons and the Cottage
Hotel form a group.
