804-1/40/10001 Widewater Lock Cottage
II
Lock Cottage, c1800 with probably mid C19 alterations and extension.
Built for Grand Junction Canal Company. Rendered brick. Hipped slate
roof with ridge stack and lateral wall stack. Single storey at front,
2 storeys at rear. 4-bay front to canal has off-centre 6-panel door
flanked by single glazing bar sashes and to left, in later addition,
another similar sash window. All openings have cambered arches. Low,
rendered brick wall enclosing front area. Rear elevation has a
small,square window and 2 4-light sashes with cambered arches, one on
upper storey, one on lower to right of wooden sentry-box porch.
