1805 pair, each 3 storeys, attic and basement, 2 windows. Multicoloured stock
brick. Slated mansard roof with 1 square dormer, a sash with glazing bars. Gauged
flat brick arches to sash windows, most with glazing bars, in stucco lined reveals,
No 2 has later 4-panel double door and plain rectangular fanlight in stuccoed
quasi-entablature surround with vermiculation in head. Added l-storey canted
bay at right. Basement altered to garage.
No 3 has 6-panel door with reeded cornice head and plain rectangular fanlight.
Doorcase of attached, reeded cornice with feather capitals supporting carved
brackets and flat hood.
LCC blue plaque: "Sir James Clark Ross 1800-1862 Polar Explorer lived here."
Nos 1 to 8A (consec), The Wedge and Forecourt Walls form a group.
