1866 by John Emmett. Large, expensive church in Geometrical
style. Nave, aisles, chancel, short chancel aisles with vestries
at ends. Limestone ashlar within and without. Bays defined by
stepped buttresses. Solid parapet over corbel table. High pitched
slated roof. Very large East window flanked by tall, gabled, stepped
buttresses with figures of Saints in niches. Inside, tall 5-bay nave.
No clerestory. Arcade, on piers of clustered columns, reaches wall
plate of pointed wood roof. 2-bay chancel has carved stone reredoes
by J Oldrid Scott, 1906. North aisle window, the story of St Paul,
by Wm Morris and Co.
