29.7.49 Church of St John the


Church. 1874-1911. J Brooks and J S Adkins architects. Rubble stone, ashlar
dressings. Early English style. Rose to west end, with added western aspidal
baptistry, gabled and pinnacled. Stone rib vaulted interior. Clustered columns and
richly moulded arcades, with angels over. Tall lancet clerestory. Transepts. Fine
screen. Elaborate pulpit and font.
