Substantial early C19 pair, each 3 storeys, attic and basement in main block
and one-bay entrance extensions of 3 and 4 storeys. Stock brick, recess on
axis. Stuccoed ground floor band and top cornice; stone-coped brick parapet
before slated mansard with dormers. Gauged flat brick arches to windows, mostly
sashes with glazing bars, (first floor of No 165 long casements with transoms).
Full width first floor balconies with patterned cast iron rails. Arcaded ground
floor with stucco impost string. Eight steps, with wrought iron hand-rails,
to 6-panel doors. Flanking engaged Doric columns with outer pilaster responds,
fret pattern friezes and wide patterned fanlights, No 163 with glazed lampholder.
