VALLEY ROAD SW16
(east side)
No 131

II

Former spa building in grounds of dairy. Early C19. Central 2-storey, 3-window
block of painted brick with return walls of incised stucco. Low-pitched pyramidal
slated roof with central chimney. Recessed sash windows with glazing bars and
blind cases. In first floor centre a round-arched niche holds bust of elderly
gentleman.
Modernised door, blocked fanlight.
Two-storey taller right section with one-window front has projecting ground floor
glazed porch. One-storey 3-bay left extension now as garage and small shop.
Listed partly for historic associations, as a relic of the period when this part
of London had many holiday and watering places; the old mineral well is preserved
in the kitchen.
