Tall granite plinth with curved ends, inscribed on west end 'The South Bank Lion'.
Standing above, a Coade Stone lion of heroic size and taking expression. Bronze
plaque on east face of plinth recalls that lion stood from 1837 on the parapet
above river front of Lion Brewery, Lambeth and was installed here after World
War II at the wish of King George VI. Modelled by W F Woodington, 1837.
