Freestanding archway. Late C12, erected here in 1935. Stone. East face with round
headed archway with recessed decorated voussoirs and stepped, shafted jambs with
scallop capitals (some renewed). Set in surrounds of stone ,flint and tile, and
with stone slate roof. Other medieval fragments built into west face. The archway
possibly formed part of the former Hospitium of Merton Priory.
