Detached house. Circa 1760, with Additions of circa 1880-90 to rear. Stucco.
Low pitched slate roof to eaves. 2 storeys. 5 bays with additions to right.
"Gothick" style slightly recessed entrance to second bay from left in Tudor arched
doorway with cornice over and moulded architraves. Right three bays combined
to form 2 storey canted bay window. Ground floor windows with Tudor arched windows,
except left hand bay which has later C19 canted timber bay window. Upper windows
ogee headed with moulded stucco architraves and stucco foliated finials. Sashes.
Small panes. Glazing bars. ("Gothick" glazing). Crown glass. Rear elevation
remodelled late C19 with bay windows. Interior with original staircase (turned
balusters and panelled dado). Painted glass. Plaque on facade commemorating
residence of Capt Frederick Marryat RN (1792-1848) Novelist.
