Tower of All Hallows, Lombard Street by Wren, re-erected 1940 as tower of new Church.
Pattend stone, in 3 stages. Very plain except for Corinthian porch. Modern brick-
faced reinforced concrete church of 5 bays, with round windows Portland stone dressings,
joined to tower by corridor from north side of west end. The church is completely
fitted out inside with the furnishings of the Lombard Street Church including work by
Grissling Gibbons, 1690 and 1856. Very fine pulpit, reredos, organcase etc. Also some
superb monuments. With the Vicarage (modern Georgian) and the parish room as the east
wing, the whole forms a half H-block.
The church was designed before 1940 but was completed circa 1953. By Robert Atkinson
and Partners.
