Mid/late C19. Stock brick with bracketed stucco eaves cornice and band. Bands
at 1st and 2nd floor sills. Slate roof. 3 storeys, 2 windows each with moulded
stucco architraves, those of 1st floor with bracketed labels. Ground floor bays.
Paired doors with stucco surrounds with engaged pillars with composite capitals.
No 288 has a blue plaque denoting that Israel Zangwill (1864-1926) philosopher
and writer lived there.

The Victoria Veneer Mills and Nos 236 to 256 (even), 274 to 302 (even), The
Crown Hotel, The Royal Cricketers Public House, form a group with the Lodge
at Crown Gate West, Victoria Park.
