War Memorial

1924. Sir E Lutyens architect. 1914-18 War Memorial to the dead of the Merchant
Navy and the Fishing Fleet. White stone and metal plaques etc. Temple form, of
3 bays each with 2 columns flanking central space. Entablature with cornice:
Doric order. Centre stepped parapet with metal bas relief decoration and lettering.
Pitched roof with side parapet ends in pedimented gable over arch.
To rear, Memorial extended after 1939-45 War to form walled garden with plaques
and statues.

The Roman Wall, the Mercantile Marine War Memorial with the Port of London
Authority Building and Lamps, Trinity House, Railings & Forecourt and Nos 41
and 42 form a group.
