II Entrance Gateway

Pair of gatepiers, joined by later brick wall. 1807 - 15. Probably S
P Cockerell. Stuccoed brick; Portland stone bases. Broad moulded piers,
the front faces with battered edges and pointed crest to resemble pylons
(top of left hand pier missing). Coade stone Caduceus emblem inset into
each pier. Originally an entrance to East India Company's Cos Pepper group
of Warehouses. S P Cockerell was appointed surveyor to the company in
1806.
