25/909 St Mattias Poplar,
Tomb of Solomon Baker.


Chest tomb. C1756, designer unknown. Stone. Rectangular chest
tomb on stepped and moulded base. Long sides with gadrooned
pilasters at angles flanking inscribed rectangular panels with
chamfered corners. West end with good carved armorial cartouche.
Projecting cornice to flat cover. Solomon Baker was a Distiller
of Stratford.
