C18. Brandries Hill House Sale Catalogue of 1884 refers to a "capital kitchen
garden entirely walled in" which is shown on the accompanying plan to the south
of Brandries Hill House [now Camden House]. South, west and half of north wall
remain together with continuance of west wall northwards as far as former stable
yard. Kitchen garden wall of red brick with tile course and brick capping; 20
ft high in places. North wall descends to a pair of gate piers and gate by No
1 The Brandries; rendered piers with capping and ball finial; C18 wrought iron
gate of 10 uprights, single lock rail, scroll wrought iron overthrow and standards.
South wall to former garden extends east almost as far as the embankment above
Hilliers Lane. North continuation of west garden wall is lower and also of red
brick; it encloses a paddock to rear of Brandries Cottage and continues north
as far as the boundary with the former stable yard to Brandries Hill House [see
Camden House under The Brandries, Beddington].
