Early C18, probably before 1721. One storey, ashlar. 1-3-1 openings, the centre
3 in full height projection. The outer openings are open windows with segmental
heads, band surrounds and aprons, the centre ones round-headed open doorways
with square block rustications, and vermiculated pilasters supporting a frieze
and cornice overall. The interior contains passages vaulted in stone.
General note:
The Gardens are an important early example, possibly by Charles Bridgeman, of
the landscape style with avenue drive placed off-centre from the house, naturalistic
lake and ornamental buildings. See also Watts' Views of Seats (1783), articles

Daughters of the Cross.
