17-12-75 Nos 2 and 2A, and Nos
to 8 (even)
Terrace houses with shops. Late C18 or possibly mid C18 build.
Stucco faced, slate roofs. 3 storeys and dormered mansard. 2
window wide fronts. Early to mid C19 altered shop fronts and mid
C20 shop fronts. Upper floors have recessed sash windows, no
glazing bars, flat arches. Return of No 2-2A has 4 similar
windows and 2 simple early C19 dormers. No 8 has similar return
with a corniced architrave doorcase of c. 1800. Part of the
Shepherd Market development, laid out c. 1735 and built c. 1746,
the builder, designer and promoter being Edward Shepherd, who
built and designed on the Grosvenor and Cavendish Estates.
