Terraced town houses, c1780-90 Portland Estate development. Stock brick with
rusticated stucco ground floor; slate roofs. 4 storeys and basements. 3-window
wide astylar fronts. Semicircular arched doorways to left recessed for one
order, dressed with stucco blocks and voussoirs; panelled doors in pilaster
jambs and cornice-heads under fanlights. Recessed sashes, under flat gauged
arches to upper floors. Plat band over ground floor. Parapet with coping.
Continuous cast iron geometric patterned 1st floor balconies. Cast iron area
railings with tasselled spearhead finials. No 47 has some good interior
features with geometrical iron balustraded staircase and delicate plaster
mouldings; etc.
