Corner block of large town houses. 1892-93. Pink terracotta with tiled roof.
Ornate Flemish Renaissance style with much small scale enrichment. 5 storeys
and attic, on basement. 3 large bay windows with gables over alternating with
narrow windows to front. Recessed coffered barrel vaulted porches in narrow
bays with hoods on console-brackets and tall parapets. The rectangular bays
have mullioned and transomed windows, those on 3rd floor with round arched top
lights; the narrow windows between have steep pediments and bowed oriel
balconettes on 2nd and 3rd floors. The New Cavendish Street return has 4 storey
bow and a 4 storey rectangular bay with similar detail; the ground floor is
built out with mullioned-transomed windows and 2 band vaulted enriched
doorways. The Dutch gables have arcaded lights; 2-window dormers in between.
String courses and enriched aprons. The gables are flanked by turret-finials
and there is a small ornate corner turret. Scrollwork cast iron area railings.
