Range of mews buildings. C. 1889-99 by Balfour and Turner. Red brick
and Portland stone with plain tile roof. Restrained carefully
detailed free Style of late C17 derivation. 2 storeys and attic. The
stone faced ground floor of range has an irregular arcade of coach
house doors. Groups of 4 small casement windows to 1st floor.
Prominent mutule cornice and balustrade broken by simple brick gables.
Arcaded brick, stone capped chimney stacks. Ornamental rainwater
heads in pairs. This mews range is framed by No. 3 Aldford Street and
No. 23 South Street q.v., part of the same development and associated
with Balfour and Turner's rebuilding of this part of Mayfair for the
Grosvenor Estate.
