A pair of mid C18 town houses with some C19 and C20 alterations. Stock brick with
stuccoed ground floor slate roofs. Four storeys, basement and mansard attic. Three
window fronts. Main cornice above second floor, cornice and blocking course above
third floor. Mid C20 shop fronts. No 28 retains doorway up flight of steps to left,
round headed with radial glazed fanlight. Sash windows, later glazing and altered to
third floor of No 27. Continuous early C19 cast iron balcony to first floor. The
latter house has modifications by Goodhart-Rendel of 1910. Interior: No 28 retains cut
string stone staircase with wrought iron handrail as does No 27 above altered ground
floor.
