House. C18 mid, facade remodelled in Italianate style in later C19. Stucco with
rusticated ground floor. 5 storeys and basement. 2 windows. Cornice and blocking
course. Main cornice at 4th floor level. 2nd and 3rd floor with sill bands. Square
headed architraved sash windows. 2nd floor windows with cornices and broken pediments.
Splayed bay 1st floor windows. Ground floor windows with cornices and broken pediments.
Ground floor window in recessed splayed bay. 1st floor balcony altered to cornice
with coved band with strap ornaments below in frieze. Square-headed, architraved
doorway with bracketed broken pediment. CI railings. A few original interior features,
but mostly altered in the earlier C19. Fanny Burney (Madame D'Arblay) lived here
(LCC plaque). Listed for historical association only.
