Terrace, No 40 and the right section on No 42 forming a corner feature. Early
C19. Brown brick, stucco to No 40 and right section of No 42. Channelled stucco
ground floor throughout. Stucco dressings. 4 storeys and basement, attic to
corner range. 2 bays to Nos 44-48. Corner range: 3 bays to Connaught Street
incorporating full-height bow. Pedimented angled entrance to No 40 contained in
bow. No 42 has Doric porch containing round-arched entrance with double doors
under fanlight. C19 shop fronts to rest of terrace. First floor iron balcony,
stucco balustrade above porch of No 42. Sash windows, mainly with glazing bars,
and casements. Corner range and No 48 have pediments to 1st floor windows. 3rd
floor band. Modillion cornice and balustraded parapet to corner range. Dentil
cornice to Nos 42 and 44. Iron basement railings to No 42.
