Paired terrace houses. c.1722. Brown brick, tiled roof. 3 storeys,
basements and dormered mansards. No 16 of 3 windows wide and No. 17 with 2
windows. Doorways paired to centre with doors of 6 fielded panels in
combined doorcases of fluted pilasters with elongated console brackets to
cornice hoods. Flush framed glazing bar sashes under flat gauged rubbed
brick arches. Wooden cornice band across ground floor window heads
(continuous with that of No. 15); brick plat bands and parapets with
copings. Wrought iron area railings with flambé torch finials. Part of an
exceptionally well preserved enclave of early C.18 housing, together with
Barton and Lord North Streets q,v.
