End of terrace town house. 1729-30, with c.1792-1800 alterations to
front. Repaired brown brick with red brick window dressings, concealed
slate roof. 4 storeys (top floor made a full storey c.1800) and
basement. 3 windows wide. Similar plan type to Nos. 11 to 14 q.v. with
closet wing. Channelled stucco ground floor with elliptical arched
doorway to right in plain surround, containing panelled door in corner
blocked architrave and fanlight. Recessed plate glass sashes under flat
gauged red brick arches, central top floor window blind. Shallow cornice
moulding finishing off ground floor stuccowork. Parapet with coping,
returned to side. Wrought iron area railings with urn finials. Interior
retains some panelling to rooms, panelled hall and stairwell, the dog leg
staircase with cut and carved strings, stout turned balusters and column
newels, etc. Part of the Craven family's C.18 development of their
Brewhouse estate, laid out for them by Flitcroft.
