Large terraced town house, 1771, interior decorated by Robert
Adam 1771-72. Stuccoed with rusticated ground floor, slate roof.
4 storeys, basement and dormered mansard. 6 windows wide. Entrance
off centre to left with porch of Doric columns and mutule open
pediment, 6 panel door with radial glazed semicircular fanlight.
Revealed sash windows, no glazing bars, those on 1st floor with
alternating pediments. 2nd floor sill course, bracketed main course
over 2nd floor and crowning cornice with blocking course. Wrought
iron area railings. Interior retains Adam's decoration to entrance
hall and principal ground floor rooms and to very fine ballroom on
1st floor etc. Fine staircase, stone treads, wrought-iron panelled
flat "baluster" rails, mahogany handrail, door furniture etc.
