No 47A

Terrace house with shop and passage entrance to Shepherd's
Market. Mid C18. Grey brick, slate roof. 4 storeys (the top
floor added mid C19). 3 windows wide. Ground floor has broad through
way to the Market flanked by mid C20 shop. 1st and 2nd floors have
revealed wood casements with glazing bars under flat gauged arches.
Bracketed main cornice over 2nd floor; top floor is divided into 3
bays by brick piers with moulded cornice above. Said to have once
been the home of the original Edward Shepherd, founder and builder
of Shepherd's Market in the 1740s.
