Chambers. c.1675 part of New Court in the Temple and probably by Barbon.
Altered C.18 and early C.19. Stucco faced, slate roof. 4 storeys and
basement. 5 windows wide to Devereux Court and 4-window return to New
Court. Rusticated ground floor with central architrave doorway with
console bracketed cornice. Recessed glazing bar sashes in architrave
surrounds, with pediments on 1st floor. Plat band over ground floor and
1st floor sill band with apron panels. Moulded cornice over 2nd floor and
moulded band to parapet with coping. Similar details to New Court return.
The ground floor is extended to right as screen wall pierced by
semicircular arched opening. The gateway to New Court and The Temple lies
within the City of London.
