Pair of terraced houses with later shops. c.1790-1800 Portman Estate
development forming the return of Nos. 28A and 28 to 46 consec, Manchester
Street q.v. Stock brick with stucco ground floors; concealed slate roofs.
4 storeys. 5-window wide combined frontage, with 2 blind to left. No. 53
has early C.19 shop front frame with pilasters supporting
entablature-fascia. No. 54-55 has a mid C.20 shop front. Upper floors
have recessed sashes and blind windows under flat gauged red brick arches.
Crowning stucco cornice and blocking course. Included for group value only.
