24.2.58 Place and adjoining mews
Grand terrace of houses. Early C19. Yellow brick, stucco, slate mansards to
some. Balanced composition with centre house and end houses set forward
slightly, in addition to Nos 3, 11, 21 and 29. These houses with giant order of
pilasters rising through first and second floors. Centre house with giant
Corinthian half-columns. Stucco to ground floor. Doric porches to Nos 9, 13,
15, 19, 21. Centre house with Doric colonnade. Continuous balcony to first
floor. Square headed windows and doors; gauged heads, sashes, glazing bars;
French casements to first floor: cornice above second floor, subsidiary cornice
to attic. Cast iron area railings.
