Franciscan Friary. Mid Cl9. Yellow brick, painted to ground floor. Roof not
visible. 3 storeys, attic and basement. 7 windows wide. Free early Renaissance
manner. Ground floor recessed behind round arched arcade, with simplified
capitals and drum piers; paterae to spandrels. Arched central entrance,first
and second floor windows round-headed, in pairs, with shared gauged work rising
to point between. Brick band above second floor. Corbel table to eaves with
triplets of windows at intervals. Return to left with full height canted bay.
Bronze figure of St Francis set at first floor level to corner of facade.
