Terrace house. c.1680-88 by Richard Campion with C18 alterations. Brown brick with
red brick dressings, concealed roof. 4 storeys and basement. 3 windows wide.
Ground floor stuccoed with entrance to left consisting of late C18 (1778) frame of
Ionic pilasters with acanthus neckings and swagged volutes, supporting entablature
with swagged urns, paterae and acanthus leaf ornament to frieze. Recessed box
framed glazing bar sashes, under flat gauged arches, with keystones on ground and 1st
floors. The attic storey is late c18. Stone plat bands over ground and 1st floors.
Parapet with coping. Wrought iron area railings with urn finials. Rear elevation of
brown brick dressed with red; segmental arched windows and brick band courses,
projecting closet wing. Interior has had early and late C18 modifications but
retains late C17 bolection moulded panelling including stairwell, the 1st floor front
room has late C18 delicate plasterwork to ceiling and frieze but original cornice.
The lower flights of staircase with slender turned balusters are late C18 but the
flights from 2nd to 3rd floor retain original closed string and twisted balusters
etc.
