Terraced town houses. c.1800 Portman Estate development. Stock brick with
stucco banded rustication to ground floors; slate roofs, mostly concealed.
4 storeys and basements, some with 5th floors or dormered mansards.
3-window wide fronts. Semicircular arched doorways to right, containing
panelled doors with side lights, pilastered jambs and Coade imposts under
delicately patterned fanlights with lead ornament; No. 84 has Coade
vermiculated rustic blocks and voussoirs with figured keystone. Recessed
sashes, some with glazing bars, under flat gauged arches to upper floors.
Plat band over ground floor stuccowork; stucco crowning cornices and
blocking courses. Original, cast iron, geometric and anthemion pattern
balconies to 1st floor. Cast iron area railings with urn finials. Part of
one of the most extensive and intact sequences of Georgian terraced houses
in London.
