Commercial premises. Dated 1898. Modelled terracotta by W J Neatby Birch;
terracotta dressings and ornaments; plain tile roof to eaves. Free style.
4 storeys plus low dormers. Corner site, with one bay to Gt Smith Street
and 8 bays to Abbey Orchard St entrance to splayed corner. Shop to ground
floor at corner, with arched lights to shop windows and above door. Shop
to ground floor to corner, with arched lights to shop windows and above
door. Arched ground floor windows. Square headed windows above, in terra-
cotta surrounds; casements; glazing bay paired square headed windows to
third floor, with rusticated terracotta columns between. Stuccoed eaves
cornice. Small arched dormer windows, glazing bars, fleche to roof above
Abbey Orchard St entrance bay, decorative moulded terracotta doorheads
above corner entrance and entrance from Abbey Orchard St, of fine quality,
the former with the words 'Orchard House' the latter with peacock motifs;
both with female corbel heads. Further decorative details including pediment
with date above top window to Abbey Orchard St entrance bay.
