Corner block of chambers and flats. 1899 by A. Beresford Pite. Stone
with slate roof. Free Style with Baroque details and notable use of
sculpture, in a balanced asymmetrical composition. 4 storeys and steep
dormered mansard, on basement. 3 windows wide with corner oriel and
4-window return with entrance to Queen Anne Street. Projecting porch with
shallow segmental pedimented doorway, flanked by high set oculi and
straight and quadrant returns, the latter treated as tripartite bow with
blind lower lights and console bracketed upper glazed lights. Recessed
casements, corniced on 1st and 2nd floor and as mullioned lights to corner
through-storey oriel and left hand through-storey canted bay to Queen Anne
Street, both with sculpted aprons and the corner oriel with fully rounded
sculpture figure detail to 3rd floor level. 3rd floor with semicircular
arched windows between oriel and canted bay and to Harley Street. 1st
floor sill course to Harley Street and corner oriel. Cornice over 2nd
floor. Crowning eaves cornice. Corniced and pedimented dormers in
mansard. Cast iron area railings with enriched foliate finials to
standards.
