Marble Arch

Park Lodge. c. 1825 by Decimus Burton. Portland stone ashlar, slate
roof. Accomplished miniature essay in severe Greek Revival. 1 storey
and attic. 3 bay front with single bay returns. Side entrance. Main
east front has central projection with pairs of plain Doric pilasters
and fluted attached Doric columns, carrying central attic storey with
clock face flanked by pilasters. Flanking, recessed, glazing bar
sashes in architraves. Cornice and parapet returned to sides and
rear. One of a series of Park lodges designed by Burton contemporary
with and subsequent to his Hyde Park Corner Screen qv.
