House, now information centre. c.1807 for T.B. Crompton, a
local paper manufacturer. Brick with slate roof. 2
storeys, 5 bays, the central 3 bays breaking forward under
pediment. Stone base and top cornice. Windows have gauged-
brick flat arches and are sashed with glazing bars. Round-
headed entrance has glazed doorcase, fanlight with glazing
bars and paired 3-fielded-panel doors. Gable-end stacks.
C20 rear extension of no special interest. Interior has
festoon frieze to one room and fireplace with Ionic columns
to another.
