4/19 Building at Arcon
Factory building. Late C18. For Walsuches Bleach Works.
Dressed stone with quoins and slate roof. 2 storeys, 7
bays, the 6th and 7th bays project and are roofless.
Windows have narrow lintels and casements, those to 1st
floor with small panes, one ground floor window is blocked.
Large round-headed archways to 2nd and 6th/7th bays.
Octagonal-faced clock in gabled dormer between 2nd and 3rd
bays. Walsuches Bleach Works, founded 1775, was one of the
1st chemical bleach works in the country. A rare and early
example of a bleach works building.
