10/48 Seddon's Fold
3.2.76 Farmhouse


House. Possibly C17 with C19 extension. Stone and brick
with stone dressings, stone slate and slate roofs. L-plan,
2 storeys. East facade of 4 bays, the 1st 2 bays are
gabled, the 4th a later extension. 1st 2 bays have 3-light
double-chamfered-mullioned windows, the last 2 bays have
casements. Cross-axial stack and inserted stack to right
hand corner. South facade has casements and entrance to
through passage. Later wing to right of 4 bays has hipped
roof with wide eaves. Windows have stone lintels and
corbelled cornices, no window frames. One ground-floor
window has gauged-brick flat arch and is sashed with glazing
bars. Left return has large opening in ground floor wall.
Rear is blank, with later lean-to structure. Interior has
beams, one possibly a bressumer. Later wing has ground-
floor room with plaster cornice architraves etc. and had wall
paintings now whitewashed, all damaged. Some links with
C17 Earls of Derby.
