House. 1780. For Thomas Shaw. Watershot hammer-dressed
stone with graduated stone slate roof. 3-bay single-depth
plan with 3 storeys and a small wing to rear. Projecting
plinth, quoins and shaped eaves gutter brackets. Central
door with fanlight and chamfered stone surround flanked by
6-light windows which have at some-stage been heightened.
The first floor also has 6-light windows and a central 2-
light window all of which have recessed chamfered mullions
and king mullions. The second floor has three 4-light
recessed flat-faced mullion windows with continuous head and
sill bands. Gable chimney stacks. Blocked taking-in door to
rear. 1 and 2-light gable windows. Rear wing of C19 date has
been altered to accommodate a garage and small extension.
