Includes No. 15 (The former Assheton Arms) Booth Street (west
side). Oddfellows hall, shops and public house. "Erected
MDCCCLV" (1855) on date stone. Brick with ashlar dressings
and slate roof. 3 x 7 bays with 3 storeys. Rusticated
quoins. Bracketed eaves cornice with articulating dies.
Central entrance under keystone arch flanked by two shop
fronts, the left of C19 date, the right a replacement. A
niche on the first floor forms a central feature. 4-pane
sash windows to either side have eared architraves, a sill
band and date stones above. The top floor has taller sash
windows with segmental heads, ashlar surrounds and a moulded
sill band. The windows and details to the Booth Street
elevation are similar except that the ground floor has 4-
pane sash windows under segmental brick arches and two
elaborate doorways one with pilasters supporting a dentilled
entablature the other with fanlight and keystone arch.
Hipped roof. Much of the interior has been damaged through
alteration or decay. The entire top floor accommodates the
meeting hall which has a coved plaster ceiling and niches
in the walls.
