Former Transformer Pillar
at junction with Audenshaw Road

Transformer pillar and street light. c.1900. Cast-iron.
Circular pillar on C20 concrete base topped by a street
lamp. The face is split vertically into panels and
horizontally into 3 stages. The front bears the Manchester
coat of arms and a plate records the maker - The British
Electric Transformer Co. Another records the restoration by
Norweb in 1983. Enriched cast-iron panels in top stage.
Conical top above a bead and reel band. Hexagonal lamp on
decorative spindle.
