(south side)

7/150 The Old House
26.11.81

- II

House. 1688 on internal door lintel although extensive
alterations and additions of various later dates. Square-
panel timber framing, additions roughcast: all with C20 tile
roof covering. 3-unit plan (probably through-passage) with
projecting crosswing at left and extensive additions to both
left and right. The later porch now gives access to the
crosswing but may formerly have had a door to a through
passage. 1 storey plus attic. Rendered stone plinth, angle
braces and decorative framing to the crosswing gable, and 2
dormer gables. Two 3 off 4-light leaded casements to each unit
(some probably C18). The rear is roughcast as is the rest of
the house but has a canted bay window to the house-part. The
interior is much altered but retains ovolo-moulded as well
as chamfered beams.
