east of Birch

Barn. C18 but incorporating cruck frames which date from C17
or earlier. English garden wall bond brickwork with slate
roof. Long range which has a first floor for much of its
length. There is an open bay (probably a hay barn) to the
right and a 2-storey wing at the front which included a
shippon and hayloft. The barn has various door, casement and
dormer window openings as well as diamond shaped honeycomb
breathers to the shippon and hayloft. The 2 full crucks
stand on either side of the former threshing floor and have
collar yokes and tie beams. The open bay has 2 tie-beam roof
trusses probably of C18 date.
